Hello Friends of the Earth, this is message and update No.28

 

 

 

Hi, this is what's happening so far....

SHOCK, HORROR...Sad news that Andy Pye has decided to quit.  Andy says that pressure from work amongst other things has made him decide to leave the band so we'd all like to say how sorry we are to see him go.  Andy's last gig will be July 4th at the Railway Tavern Coltishall 9pm.  This also means that we're looking for a replacement.  Candidates will need to play a little rhythm guitar, sing backing vocals and obviously grind a mean bass.  The person will need to have an interest in writing and recording along with the band and to be that obligatory 'no time waster!' 

Because of the quietness on the gig front we feel that more time can therefore be spent practicing new stuff along with the old favourites so this means that the chosen one would also be spending loads of time practicing our stuff with us.

THE RAILWAY TAVERN 

JULY 4th 9pm  

Coltishall, North Walsham Road

Hollow have been asked to do an open air gig in the grounds of the Railway, July 4th which will give us an excellent opportunity to use our new PA rig.  This will be a free entry event but people will be encouraged to eat, drink and be merry throughout the day.  Entertainment is supplied in the bar from the afternoon onwards finishing with Hollow Earth under a blanket of lights, lasers and smoke at 9pm...ish! 

Changing the subject again we've got new ideas and stuff that we want to sort out for the future which means recording, jamming and generally mucking about.  Our fortunate position with the new studio is that we can do this rather than curl up and die due to the lack of gigs at the moment.  A lot of bands just quit when they realise that all of their work and effort goes unnoticed because they simply can't take the music to their audience.  Our plans for 2009 are definitely our long awaited album, I know, I know, you've heard it all before but this time we can do it as we've now given ourselves the time.  We have an excellent crew who are willing and able, plus the accomodation to do things at.    

 

 

The addition of Merv, Brad and Ernie to the band has been a real bonus.  Along with Stewarts brother Francis they are tenderly known as 'HE TEKNICS' and hardly anything gets done without them now.  Thanks guys, let's hope that all the hard work and energy makes things bigger and better for the future...... which brings me nicely to another plea.    

 

We need someone who knows how to get us gigs.  Whilst we are chilling and being creative in our studio we are also on the lookout for agents and promoters.  If you are interested and want to become involved then go to 'Earth Contact' and introduce yourself or simply call me on 07985518964.  Join the team and become a part of what is fast becoming one heck of a magical musical machine where we are all trying to get this baby bigger and better.  We need venues big enough to do our thing at with an audience who appreciate this music.......in other words we've got too big for our sandals and kaftans!      

 

We need to go to the next phase.......need I say more?
